As an [agnostic], I see nothing “wrong” in believing in a God. I don’t think there is a God, but belief in him does no harm. If it helps you in any way, then that’s fine with me. It’s when belief starts infringing on other people’s rights when it worries me. I would never deny your right to believe in a God. I would just rather you didn’t kill people who believe in a different God, say. Or stone someone to death because your rulebook says their sexuality is immoral. It’s strange that anyone who believes that an all-powerful all-knowing, omniscient power responsible for everything that happens, would also want to judge and punish people for what they are.

She [Dame Judi Dench] told me once, “Always remember we’re not proper grown-ups.” It makes me smile when I think about that, because it is absolutely accurate when it comes to actors. [x]

“I’m miserable when I’m dieting and I like the way I look. I’m really sick of all these actresses looking like birds… I’d rather look a little chubby on camera and look like a person in real life, than look great onscreen and look like a scarecrow in real life.”

Language… has created the word “loneliness” to express the pain of being alone. And it has created the word “solitude” to express the glory of being alone. ~Paul Johannes Tillich (via thesearepeopleyouknow)

Literature adds to reality, it does not simply describe it. It enriches the necessary competencies that daily life requires and provides; and in this respect, it irrigates the deserts that our lives have already become. C.S. Lewis (via quote-book)

Do you fall in love often?” Yes often. With a view, with a book, with a dog, a cat, with numbers, with friends, with complete strangers, with nothing at all. Jeanette Winterson (via afterrains)

Crying does not indicate that you are weak. Since birth, it has always been a sign that you are alive.

Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre (via funeral)

I can’t stress this enough. Get mad, get emotional, cry, be whoever you are. You can’t be too much of yourself.
